Proof Positive
The traditional rhythm, blues, and jazz foundation that first birthed modern rock in the 1960s is no longer. The requisite horn section, once signature to Big Bands of decades past, is now obsolete. Selectric Records’ latest signing, super-charged phenomenon Cross Culture, is one of several up-and-coming bands to synthesize music’s past and present, resulting in a contemporary rock-funk sound. The band showcases this growing trend on its debut label project, Proof Positive. Self-described

Review by M. Kirk for Proof Positive
Rating:
Unlike a lot of modern “pop” music that comes out today, this album is truely unique but not weird and unpleasant to the ear. Cross Culture proves that quality music can be catchy while still maintaining artistic integrity.
The opening track “This Moment in Time” sets the tone for the rest of the record with heartfelt lyrics complimented by top notch musical accompaniment. “Extraordinary” and “She Won’t” are likely to become radio hits with their easily remebered choruses and melodies.
The band, in general, cannot be put into a single style category. While they will generally be thought as “rock”, their styles range from funk to latin.
The track “Total Addiction” has a very hip hop feel and opens with a groove unlike any other song on the recording.
Overall, the recording is a very solid freshman release. Conosiuers of varying musical styles will find something to hear in this recording.
